Jodis, an entirely new experimental / drone trio outfit from Los Angeles, California, United States involving James Plotkin (Khanate, Phantomsmasher, O.L.D., etc), Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Lotus Eaters, etc) and Tim Wyskida (ex Khanate, Blind Idiot God, etc), is a modern exploration of restrained sonic minimalism and tonal / textural density. Formed in 2008.As this year seems to be full of new supergroups and their debut albums here's the next one. And this one does even sound better then GREYMACHINE (Aaron Turner and Justin K. Broadrick of Jesu). Enjoy!
Jodis’ Secret House, as a whole, recalls a void, a shoreless pit, a slow nihilistic decent into absolutely blankness. The vocals emote a deviating distress, one that the listener will walk away from also knowing. The guitars loom with an almost inconceivable image of stillness. The percussion possesses an irregular circularity facilitating the general disorientation encapsulating the mood of the record.
The group is named after a type of moth commonly found in woodland areas across the British isles. Some people might remember the project being called Vessel but the name was already taken.
