Half Makeshift - L'Anse Amort

Half Makeshift was Nathan Michael, who began recording music in 2004 at the age of 18 using several different names for his creations before finally settling on Half Makeshift. The name Half Makeshift is taken from the song Makeshift Swahili by This Heat and 1/2 the Sky by Henry Cow.

Nathan creates his music in a sort of collage fashion, often times recording a small piece of music, perhaps only a minute long, saving it and coming back to it months later with more pieces and then linking them all together.

In March 2008, Half Makeshift announced that he was not going to release any more albums because the world was going to end in 2011 (according to the Bible) and that therefore he had no more time left to make albums.

I've been listenning to this master piece of ambient driven drone music last night once again. You could compare Half Makeshifts work to Nadja or Aidan Baker's solo stuff. Soft drones and gigantic ambient soundscapes are mixed together perfectly. "The Whale's Heart" is probably his best song. Enjoy!
